I started coming to dinner at L’Arche regularly, even though I had to leave the office early to get there on time. I began to ask myself why I enjoyed it. I came up with two answers: people and people. Little by little, I started to see. I have fallen in love with Divine Presence that I experience through these people.

My first Christmas away from my home in a small town in Idaho was during my first year at L’Arche. As the day approached, I began to dread the holiday. Then we had a small gift exchange among the people in my house. In order to receive a gift, you had to sing or dance to a Christmas song. At first, I thought no one was going to do this weird act for a present. But to my surprise, everybody did it, and it was fun. I had never seen so many happy people at Christmas. Sonny even danced a soft-shoe!
