Director
of Development & Outreach
needed to implement and grow a sustainable fundraising
plan with a particular focus on cultivating individual major
donors and relationships with key foundations.
The
Director of Development & Outreach reports to the Executive
Director and leads organizational fundraising and outreach efforts.
He/she has primary responsibility for developing and implementing
the annual fundraising plan.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a plan that includes fundraising
strategies, priorities, and timelines in collaboration with
Executive Director and Development & Outreach Committee
of the Board of Directors.
• Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward
foundations and individual major donors in collaboration with
Executive Director.
• Conduct research to identify potential new foundation,
church, civic, corporate and individual donors.
• Write letters of inquiry, proposals and reports to funders
and maintain a schedule of deadlines for the submission of proposals
and reports.
• Oversee the Development & Outreach Assistant
• Plan, develop and oversee outreach activities that will
raise awareness of L’Arche, build community and effectively
communicate the organization’s mission, goals and programs.
• Work with staff and consultant to redesign the web site
and expand online fundraising and direct response fundraising.
• Liaison with the business manager to ensure that proper
systems are in place regarding the proper recording and accounting
of all contributions.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree required, advanced degree or CFRE preferred.
• Three to five years of experience with nonprofit fund
development, preferably with experience in community-based and/or
faith-based organizations. Knowledge of and experience with
L’Arche is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience
with a donor database, particularly, eTapestry, is a plus.
• Commitment to mission of L’Arche to create community
with and quality services for people with developmental disabilities.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
with minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including
fluency in English.
• Highly organized, dedicated, responsible, and team-oriented.
• Must be able to develop and sustain good working relationships
with community members.
