VOLUNTEER FOR L'ARCHE

Attend a Community Prayer Night. We have two prayer nights. On the first Tuesday of the month we have a prayer night in Arlington, Virginia. It starts at 7pm at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2700 South 19th Street; Arlington, Virginia, 22204. Prayer night is held in The Founders Room in the Ministry Center. The Ministry Center is the new building at the back of the church lot. The Founders Room is just inside the main doors to the right, and is completely accessible. We gather for about 1 hour of prayer, song, a little program and some refreshments afterwards. The first and Third Tuesday of the month we have a prayer night in the District of Columbia at the Pastoral Center 5001 Eastern Avenue Hyattsville, MD. It starts at 6:30 with a shared meal followed by a prayer service (usually with a small activity) and dessert. It concludes around 8:30.

Make a connection with a core member and become a Regular Volunteer, coming once a week, once a month or however best fits the home and your schedule. Regular volunteers do special activities inside and outside of the home with core people such as reading, playing games, going to church, taking a walk, visiting the countless museums in our area or getting coffee.

Lend a hand and become a Volunteer Assistant. Volunteer assistants help with routines and other house activities, esp. when regular assistants are on vacation or on retreat. At least one year commitment needed.

Stir the Pot and help cook at meal time (every day at 6pm), for a special event or delight the community with a special weekend breakfast/brunch. Or, join us for dinner every day at 6pm. Please just call a week in advance: Beth Barsotti (202) 232-4539.

Share a skill such as gardening, house cleaning, art, music, website design, sewing, carpentry, plumbing, reading or any other professional services.

Round Em’ Up and organize a group to help with seasonal cleaning, painting, yard work, house maintenance, and/or an arts & crafts project.

The Core People are always creating art at their Friday art classes and love to sell their products. We are always ready for an art show; you could Hold an Art Show at your office, church or in your local neighborhood center.

Create an outside activity for the community. We love picnics, swimming, and trips to farms or make your own suggestions based on your hobbies and talents.

Organize a Dinner Party to benefit L’Arche at your home. Have your friends come and share a meal with you in honor of L’Arche. Make it a special night where you are able to introduce L’Arche to your friends and family.
